Industrial image processing

In all areas of industry the image processing gains importance in plant- and process-control, in quality control as well as in parts tracking during production process.

Whether completeness controls of printed circuit board placement (PCB placement) for mobile phones, imprint control on semiconductor cases, display checks, surface inspection of tread areas for engine- or gear parts and labeling inspection of pharma packaging, the image processing ensures that the products are tested and waste or reworks are detected timely.

On the basis of the GEFASOFT VIPER.NET Basis Application it is possible to configure any number of implementations. For specialized implementations the application can easily be expanded by customized plugins.

These systems are used integrative or in GEFASOFT machine.

Owing to the development of the MVTEV Halcon Wrapper Tool, the range of functions of Cognex VisionPro can be expanded with complex algorithmic on request.

Examples for already realised projects:

  • completeness checks
  • location and position detection
  • surface inspection on different surfaces
  • Vision Guided Robotics
  • Code reading (Datamatrix,…)
  • 3D measurement
  • high-precision measurement on components
  • Quality control in the medical technology
  • coplanarity check
  • connector pin check
  • soldering check
  • inspection of semiconductor device from bulk material

Due to our well-equipped image processing laboratory we have the possibility to support our customers in the best way.

Automation of complete assembly lines

Task:

At different stations in the GEFASOFT own assembly lines or integrative at partners the image processing for process automation or quality check is used.

As the GEFASOFT VIPER.NET Basis Application is very flexible, several image processing stations can easily be summarized each on one PC.

Printed image inspection

Task:

The assessment of the printed image on completeness and quality as well as of the position in relation to the part.

As a result of an easy teach-in of new labels in the GEFASOFT own Tool, many type variances from the customer can be maintained with little effort.

Depending on the task it is possible to work with different recording technologies. In the example the recording is generated with a line camera to reach a high resolution.

Detection of surface defects on plastic parts

Task:

Surfaces of lacquered plastic parts should be checked.

As recording procedure the Photometric Stereo is considered. With it least surface defects can be detected. The achievable precision is, depending on the task; <1µm. By adjusting the lighting this procedure can also be used for other surfaces.

For rotationally symmetric objects or endless products Photometric Stereo can also be executed as recording technique. In the process a line camera as well as a GEFASOFT own recording controller are used.

Heat-conducting paste control

Task:

Inspection of contours existing out of heat conductive paste or thermal adhesive. Furthermore with assistance from the image processing, sealants should be checked for their position related to the component and completeness or integrity

With 2D or 3D recording process, glue contours can be checked depending on its type and appearance of the material. This process can be carried out with different GEFASOFT Tools. The test procedure can be adjusted to the dosing accuracy and reaches from a simple Blob test to an exact verification of the glue course.

Type checking of case covers

Task:

Different types of case covers should be checked on a manufacturing line after the manual mounting. Thereby conversion sets are controlled, too.

By the use of a light section sensor, the types can clearly be distinguished independent of their surface quality. New types can, almost independent of their geometry, be quickly integrated and teached-in. The steering of the scan axis of the light section sensor is controlled by the application.
