A2A® PLASTIC WELDING

The A2A® (Absorbent to Absorbent) plastic welding process is a pioneering method in the field of laser welding for plastics. As an experienced machine manufacturer, GEFASOFT has developed its own patented technology in which two laser-absorbent joining partners are bonded directly to one another.

Particularly with regard to design freedom and expanded areas of application, the process offers significant advantages over classic laser transmission welding.

FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE OF
A2A® PLASTIC WELDING

In A2A® plastic welding, two laser-absorbent joining partners are bonded directly to one another. The laser energy is applied specifically to the joining zone, causing the materials to melt locally and creating a homogeneous, cohesive bond.

In contrast to classic processes, no transparent joining partner is required. Additional joining techniques such as gluing or screwing are also eliminated. The result is stable, tight weld seams combined with high process reliability and flexibility in component design.

The laser-absorbent joining partners are placed precisely in the workpiece carriers.

The joining surfaces are heated in a defined and uniform manner using laser energy.

The upper joining partner is moved within the system and precisely aligned with the lower joining partner.

The heated joining partners are joined under defined pressure and held in place during the cooling phase.

Once the weld seam has solidified, the joined component is ready for removal.
