Testing, calibration, and automatic correction
FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE
OF HUD TEST BENCHES
GEFASOFT HUD testing systems capture quality-relevant image parameters of the virtual HUD image directly in the vehicle or during windshield production. Using state-of-the-art image processing systems, distortions, positional deviations, and geometric errors are automatically detected and analyzed.
Based on the measurement results, correction values can be transmitted to the HUD projector. This allows both positional deviations and geometric distortions (warping) to be corrected automatically, ensuring a true-to-original display of driver information.

ABOUT HEAD-UP DISPLAYS
Head-Up Displays (HUD) project driver-relevant information such as speed, navigation, or warnings directly onto the vehicle’s windshield. In addition to static information, modern systems also display contact-analog augmented reality (AR) content such as lane guidance, distance information, or collision warnings directly within the real environment.
To ensure this information is displayed with precise positioning, the projector, optics, and windshield must be perfectly matched. Even the smallest deviations can lead to distortions, ghost images, or incorrect positioning, thereby affecting perception and driving safety.
GEFASOFT develops high-precision windshield test benches and end-of-line testing systems for this purpose, which automatically detect and correct such deviations and ensure reliable HUD display.
